I went out early this evening with a couple of weirdos (Joel, Caitlyn, Danny) to go shopping for bargain crap across town. The bargains were plentiful, it was all good. I got a cheesy halloween decoration spiderweb that lights up to put in the livingroom. (We have this rule about holiday decorations in this house. Once they go up, they never come down.) As we left the bargain store, we walked out into a thunderstorm, and since thunderstorms are incredibly rare around here, they're my favorite weather of all, and it made us all giddy and we watched the skies and tried to stay out of the rain while we waited for the bus back home. I whipped out my camera to try to photograph some of the bolts of lightning, which was fairly frustrating.
A few minutes in to the journey, the bus stopped inexplicably at the top of a hill at Noe and Army, and sat there for about 5 minutes before someone piped up to ask why the bus wasn't moving, and it turned out that another bus ahead of us had broken down and got stuck making a sharp turn at the bottom of the hill. So, we camped out in the middle of an intersection, eating cookies and watching the spectacular weather from a particularly optimal vista point. I continued to snap photos, about 70 or so, and I managed to catch 4 shots of actual bolts of lightning. Yay! The photographs in between are beautiful as well.
When we got home, another housemate and some of his friends were setting up to watch The Wizard of Oz with the Dark Side of the Moon soundtrack, what a totally stoner thing to do. I caught a few minutes of it, during "Money", when the munchkins are all dancing around, and I have to say, it does look pretty cool. Joel and I took off seeking some kind of dinner item, and we wandered down to Haight street, it was still a little drizzly but not really raining anymore, and we went to a deli and I decided we were going to have a late night rainy weather picnic in Duboce Park. It was nice, actually, and we met some nice dogs. I'm in a really good mood for some reason.
I wish the weather was always interesting. Today is just boring and mild.
I'm worried about my cough and congestion, i'm still not better and it's been well over a week. I might have to go to a doctor, oh dear. Looks like I'll be heading down to Santa Cruz for a few days to deal with paperwork and bills. Fun! Not really!
