quasi-update. (pictures, damnit!)

Thanks to pippilina, I discovered that a technique called Musion Eyeliner made the Gorillaz appear as 3D holograms on stage (see this entry). And it is a projection, not some enormous LCD screen, as I had thought. The footage is projected at a 45 degree angle on to transparent, 1-molecule thin sheets of aluminum. Hey, science meets showbiz who'da thunk it!

Some recent handspring sketch/doodles:

Yesterday, I embarked upon a 2-week campaign of being really strict with myself, and forcing myself to do (relatively pleasurable) tasks on my to-do lists... For instance, painting for 2 hours a day, drinking enough water, taking my vitamins, etc. So far, so good.

Oh yeah. Get over to my Nohari and Johari windows and shower me with adjectives.

" The primary components of a Musion set up are:
*nbsp; A video projector, preferably DLP with an HD card/minimum native resolution of 1280 x 1024 and brightness of 5000+ lumens.
"

I was under the impression that an HD LED screen was in use (the blur and haloing acting as the basis of my hypothesis; the audio/video desync was supporting), but I couldn't explain to myself why the general perspective of the Gorillaz changed accurately when television cameras panned.

Musion Eyeliner definitely resolves the issue, and keeps the desync as a hint (certain devices' native resolutions can cause a delay when they have to push out a signal fairly far from said native res). The animation stutters might have occurred at render.

It's such a goofball name for something, "eyeliner"

It took me about 10 views of the video to realize it, but those seemingly gratituous piles of people tangled up in two heaps in front of the Gorillaz stage are probably concealing the projectors.

Oops, no, wait, I'm wrong. The rappers who run onstage pass directly in the path of them.
